Tom Walton, Emergency Planning & Preparedness Coordinator, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department
Tom Walton is a native of Santa Barbara County, raised in Carpinteria and attended local schools. Tom joined the Sheriff's Department in 1979. He has held several different assignments such as Custody Operations, Courts, Patrol, Isla Vista Foot Patrol, Santa Maria Patrol, Gang Enforcement, SWAT, Technology and currently he supervises our Research and Planning Bureau. Tom is the Emergency (Disaster) Planning Coordinator for the Sheriff's Department. Tom frequently is assigned to coordinate the Operations Section of the County's Emergency Operations Center during local emergencies. Tom's position within the Sheriff's Department has lent him to work closely with the American Red Cross, Santa Barbara County Chapter.
